How Private Tutoring with Me Works

  1. Optional Consultation: Speak with me for a no-obligation 25 minute meeting about anything GRE-related! Usually, this is time for us to discuss what you feel you need extra help with and what would be helpful for you to reach your GRE goals. You may also contact me via email to set up sessions! Sign up here: Consultation for Tutoring

  2. Study Plan: If you decide tutoring would be helpful, I will write up a personalized plan for our sessions together depending on what you need and how much time you would like to spend with tutoring. (This is subject to flexibility if we need to change it after we start!)

  3. Payment: I ask for payment (see below for rates) prior to the first session. I accept peer-to-peer methods (i.e. Venmo, Zelle, CashApp, etc.) or other payment methods (PayPal, Western Union, etc.) as long as I can receive the correct amount. If the platform you choose requires transaction fees, you are responsible for the fee.

  4. Schedule and Conduct Sessions: Typically, sessions will be 1 hour each but can be shorter or longer depending on your needs. I will provide a wide range of available times for you to choose from that will fit your schedule. I have materials, but you can provide your own as well.

  5. Feedback and Adjustment: I do my best at all times to provide the best knowledge for you. However, if you have feedback or would like to try something new, I am happy to accommodate any reasonable requests.

Hi! Thanks for stopping by. I have a feeling I know why you’re here.

You’re dreaming about finally getting your target GRE score so you can focus on everything else in your life - including getting into your dream graduate school.

But right now, you might be:

  • Going through practice problem after practice problem wondering why you aren’t getting it

  • Stuck in the brainstorm stage for essays and not understanding how other people have so many ideas

  • Determined to study harder but have no clue where to start or what direction you actually need to go in because there is too much conflicting information to wade through

How do I know? Because it used to be me too. When I was studying for my GRE, I:

  • Procrastinated studying because it seemed all too overwhelming

  • Looked at all the books and resources I had trying to decide which one to open first

  • Found that the explanations of answers from books wasn’t enough to get it

  • Wondered how my essays would score and how to improve

It was only when I was fed up with myself and reached out for help that I realized:

  • How to make the most of the limited time I had before my test

  • How to study vocabulary in a way that was fun and helped the words stick in my mind

  • The difference between an essay at 4 or 5, and an essay that scores 6

  • How to break down math questions in a way that made sense

Once I figured that out, studying was more about building on what I already knew, rather than painfully wading through pages of text, another Youtube video, another set of flash cards without seeing my score actually increase.

I want you to be able to open your GRE and feel confident, calm, and even have time to check your answers at the end of each section: to feel ideas and words flow like water for your essays, to recall all the words you studied for fill-in-the-blank questions, to know exactly what formulas to use.

Empowerment

ETS-based evidence

Enjoyment

But I feel what you’re thinking. You’re also:

  • Scared about trying something new when all the things you’ve tried before haven’t worked

  • Unsure if your target score is attainable

  • Nervous because you don’t know how much it will take to reach your target score

  • Fearful that you could try all of this… and fail

That’s why I’m here to help.

I am here to help you understand what it is you need to reach your target GRE score, but also help you enjoy the process. Together, we will work to give you the information and preparation you need to walk into your test with your head held high!

And how I help comes from a place of:

I want you to be comfortable leading your own GRE journey. You’ll know exactly what you want to accomplish and after each session, you will know what exactly you need to follow up on so that you can reach that goal. You will also see studying and answering essays, multiple choice questions, and fill-in-the-blanks from a perspective that makes it easier to arrive at the right answer. You will feel confident in whatever abilities you bring and know that you can quickly add to those already-existing skills you have.

There is a lot of information out there on the GRE, and much of it is pulled out of someone’s ass. Or, it’s based on teaching group lessons, or their own test experience almost a decade ago. When I prepare for my videos and lessons, I always refer to official ETS materials, questions, and other information to ensure that what I teach is up-to-date and uses content that will actually show up on the exam. Plus, I scored 162 on Verbal, 170 (perfect score!) on Quantitative, and 5.5 on Analytical Writing and have hundreds of tutoring experience.

Studying for the GRE should not be intimidating. It might seem like there are a million things to learn, but I focus on making the process as easy and comfortable for you as possible. You won’t have to worry about wading through the quicksand that is GRE material on the internet. Our sessions will feel more like a college study session with a friend than a class - just that you’ll come away from them feeling confident and be able to see tedious tasks like memorizing vocabulary and formulas in a way that doesn’t make you want to bang your head against a wall!

Whether you’re looking for single-section tutoring or help on all three sections, your test is in one week or 3 months, you can make the progress that you’re hoping for. Make the process easy on yourself while ensuring that you achieve your goals!
